Director of Operations
Bella Italy Podcast Host
Brian lives in Sicily, where daily life still follows the rhythm of the sun, the vineyards, and the sea.
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, he has traveled to Italy for more than thirty years — first through military service, then for personal enrichment, and ultimately to explore his Italian roots. What began as curiosity became something deeper: a steady crescendo of return visits that eventually anchored him here after obtaining dual citizenship. Today, with two grown daughters living on opposite sides of the Atlantic and a Sicilian wife, Italy is not simply a destination — it is home. His heart belongs to Sicily and to the quiet Po Valley countryside around Mantova in northern Italy, landscapes that continue to shape how he understands the country.
As Director of Operations for Italy With Bella, Brian ensures the Italy-based side of the company runs with precision and care. He oversees a team of five in Italy and manages strategy, partner relationships, and on-the-ground execution. His work extends beyond logistics: he helps shape long-term vision, guides marketing direction, and hosts and produces the company’s podcast. The seamless experiences clients enjoy — from boutique hotels and private drivers to vineyard tastings and cultural access—often result from Brian’s strategic direction and oversight. When challenges arise, he works quietly behind the scenes to resolve them swiftly and thoughtfully. He serves as a bridge between the Italian and American teams, ensuring clear communication and cultural fluency on both sides.
Brian travels continuously throughout Italy for research and partner development. His expertise centers on food and wine , travel, hiking, immersive experiences, and the cultural depth of Italy’s small villages. He is deeply familiar with Sicily, the mezzogiorno, Lombardy, and the countryside surrounding Mantova. He understands the nuances visitors often miss: the pacing of a proper Italian meal, the seasonal rhythms of coastal towns, and the difference between boutique lodging and niche accommodation that genuinely reflects its place.
Personally, Brian is most at home at a long Sicilian lunch that stretches into late afternoon — local olive oil, grilled fish, wines from Mount Etna, and conversation that moves easily between dialect and philosophy. He prefers Italy in the quieter months, when villages feel lived-in rather than visited. You’ll often find him hiking rural trails, exploring local festivals, or lingering in a small piazza over a caffè as daily life unfolds without spectacle. His passion for language and the layered identity of the mezzogiorno continues to deepen his connection to the country.
For Brian, helping Americans experience Italy is about more than planning travel. It is about translation — not just of language, but of culture, pace, and expectation. As he often says on the Bella Italy podcast, “Italy rewards those who slow down, who listen, who understand that beauty here is both grand and intimate — sacred and profane, buried deep in the mundane.” Through Italy With Bella, his hope is that each traveler leaves not only having seen Italy, but having experienced its vital essence.
